Before departure

Build a train with a job for every carriage

Your driver, locomotive, carriages, modules, and cards define the opening deck. Read the complete starting deck before choosing a region.

01

Choose the driver

Drivers bring unique cards, modules, an ability, and an Archenemy. Pick one whose ability matches the deck you want to build.

02

Protect the core

The official beginner guide recommends keeping a Shield carriage behind the locomotive so the most important cars can absorb pressure.

03

Read the starting deck

Every carriage adds cards. Check energy costs and attack coverage before a flashy addition makes the deck slower or harder to aim.

04

Set Fog Thickness

Fog Thickness changes difficulty with stronger enemies and campaign effects. Learn the positioning loop before raising it.

Combat loop

The grid tells you what happens next

  1. Read the red arrows. Enemy movement and intended targets are shown before attacks resolve.
  2. Spend energy on position. Moving the train can dodge fire or ram vehicles, but repeated movement costs more.
  3. Push, then damage. Artillery and environmental collisions can create chains that beat direct damage.
  4. End the turn deliberately. Press F only after checking every carriage, attack lane, and map object.
